Ok, the unbeatable is, in fact, beatable. Anthony Maggio, the sole survivor in our “survivor” pool, suffered his first loss in this contest Monday night when Washington stunned Dallas. But this is a double elimination party, so he gets another shot to see if he can run the table – and if he does, the riches and fame that will accompany the feat will assuredly make the accomplishment worthwhile.
So here goes:
Maggio: Seattle over Oakland
Teams used: NY Jets, Green Bay, Atlanta, San Diego, New Orleans, Denver, New England, Dallas
I don’t think Oakland’s going 0-16. Seattle’s been anything but itself lately. Still, besides Cincinnati there isn’t another pick I absolutely love this week, and the Bengals have hardly been a model of consistency. The Seahawks are always tough to beat at home, so here’s hoping a winless team isn’t able to pull it off.
Consolation round (single elimination)
Tony: Record before eliminated: 0-2 (2-0 in consolation round)
Teams used: New England, Denver
Seattle over Oakland: I’ve actually been down on the Seahawks all year, but even I don’t think they can lose to the Raiders…
John: Record before eliminated: 4-2 (1-1 in consolation round)
Teams used: Arizona, Dallas
Eliminated again.
Who I would take if I was still alive: Seattle over Oakland: After losing once again last week, I need a sure thing, so I’m going back to my tried and true strategy of always picking against the Raiders. The Raiders may win a game this year, but there’s no chance it happens on the road in Seattle.
Andy: Record before eliminated: 2-2 (0-1 in consolation round)
Teams used: Seattle, Detroit
Who I would take if I didn’t suck: Seattle over Oakland: We’ll make it unanimous. The Seahawks have struggled, but I’d be stunned if they didn’t win at home against the Rag Tag Raiders.
