In what is the final week of “real” fantasy football, Tony put together a lineup that scored over 20 points over his season average…and still lost. By over 30. Never hurts when you have a Derek Carr/Darren Waller stack on a 13-200-2 day for Waller.
Week 12 | Season | Total points | Weekly average | |
Andy | 182.04 | 9-4 | 1,797.44 | 138.26 |
Tony | 151.42 | 4-9 | 1,528.48 | 129.22 |
Andy: It was a little harder this week to find the combo I really liked. Not sure I did, truth be told. I don’t have a ton of confidence in this slate.
QB – Justin Herbert vs ATL – $7,200 – Before last week’s dud, Herbert had put up no fewer than 20 points in any of his 12 starts. I’m willing to give him another go here and assume that last week was just the genius of Bill Belichick and not a sign that the rookie has hit a wall.
RB – James Robinson vs TEN – $7,700 – Has produced double-digit scores every week of the season so far. He’s not flashy, but he just keeps giving results.
RB – Aaron Jones @ DET – $7,900 – I wish he was getting a couple more touches every week, but he’s a guy who can put up his weeks’ worth of points on any given play, as evidenced by the 77-yard scamper for a score last week. I’ll take him against a bad Lions team.
WR – DK Metcalf vs NYJ – $8.000 – His price tag is starting to catch up with his play. I almost went with his counterpart, Tyler Lockett, this week at $700 cheaper, but Metcalf has been my bobo in DFS and in season-long fantasy this year and ultimately I couldn’t bring myself to make the switch.
WR – Denzel Mims @SEA – $4,400 – Before last week’s game against Las Vegas, Mims had eight targets three games in a row. I needed someone at a lower price tag here and, while the Seahawks defense is playing better than it did early, if he gets eight targets here again, I think he’s a decent shot to overperform.
WR – Breshad Perriman @SEA – $4,200 – With Mims taking the weekend off to deal with some personal matters I switched gears to Perriman. Someone has to catch the passes in New York … right? Maybe?
WR – A.J. Brown @ JAX – $7,700 – He scored in single-digits in week one, then missed three games. Since he came back, he’s had at least 12.4 points in all but one of his nine games, including five where he’s surpassed 20. It’s been a bit quiet at times, but he just keeps producing.
TE – Dallas Goedert vs NOS – $4,400 – The worry was that his production would go down with Zach Ertz coming back or with Carson Wentz not playing well, but Goedert led the team in caches last week in producing his third consecutive double-digit output game. There aren’t a lot of options at TE that I love this week, so I’ll take his production at a reduced price.
Flex – Michael Pittman @ LVR – $5,400 – His last couple games have been on the quiet side, but the Raiders have been giving up a lot of points to receivers in recent weeks. I’ll roll the dice that he’s due.
DST – CLE defense vs BAL – $2,100 – This falls under the category, again, of a super cheap defense that isn’t likely to cost me a match-up. The Ravens have been off for a few games now, so the Browns have double-digit upside, especially if Myles Garrett can put up a bit more than he did last week in his return from a stint on the COVID list.
Tony: Back to the well a good number of big names this week, leaving me a little thin at the bottom of the lineup…hopefully it pulls through.
QB – Russell Wilson vs NYJ – $7,900 – I’m sure that replacing Gregg Williams will improve the Jets defense…
RB – Derrick Henry @ Jac – $9,000 – Henry has a phenomenal playoff schedule for fantasy–starting with the Jags this week.
RB – David Montgomery vs Hou – $7,000 – I still don’t love Montgomery (was in the same slot last week), but he’s still got a decent matchup with the Texans, and the Bears still need to rely on their running game to win.
WR – Davante Adams @ Det – $9,500 – Adams has been automatic this year…the only thing the Lions have going for them is the energy they might have from playing without Matt Patricia.
WR – Chris Godwin vs Min – $6,800 – The Vikings defense has gotten better in recent weeks, but they haven’t exactly been playing top offenses. The question is which Bucs WR will go off?
WR/TE – Michael Gallup @ Cin – $4,100 – Here starts the budget cuts…Gallup did pretty solid last week against the Ravens–and the Cowboys could actually win one this week.
TE – Jared Cook @ Phi – $4,100 – Cook is the prototypical TE that I am never trying to get in dynasty…but he fits the budget here.
FLEX – Collin Johnson @ Jac – $3,800 – Here’s a real budget play…but Johnson is 6-6, and has been getting targets the last two weeks, even with Chark back last week. He might put up a zero, but he could also break out.
DST – Saints vs Phi- $2,800 – The Saints are a little more pricey of a defense than I’ve been going with, but they’ve been one of the best, and they’re going up against Jalen Hurts, because the Eagles want to make sure to destroy the confidence of ALL of their QB.
