Anthony’s run continued with the Baltimore win over Tennessee last weekend. He’s 9-1 in this double elimination pool. Can he keep it up?
Maggio: Miami over Buffalo
Teams used: NY Jets, Green Bay, Atlanta, San Diego, New Orleans, Denver, New England, Dallas, Seattle, Baltimore
It’s real tempting to avoid the sinister Thursday night game here and go with Cleveland over a Ryan Mallet-led Houston, but I don’t like betting on what I don’t know, and Arian Foster could make Mallet’s job easy. Meanwhile the Dolphins, even though they just lost, looked good on the road against one of the top contenders in the NFC. I think at home against lesser competition on a short week where the opposition has to travel adds up to a South Beach victory weekend.
Consolation round (single elimination)
Tony: Record before eliminated: 0-2 (4-0 in consolation round)
Teams used: New England, Denver, Seattle, Arizona
Cleveland over Houston: Who ever thought Cleveland would be a choice in a survivor pool? But in a competitive week, they appear to have one of the more lopsided matchups, and being at home … I guess I’ll hold my breath.
John: Record before eliminated: 4-2 (1-1 in consolation round)
Teams used: Arizona, Dallas, Seattle, Pittsburgh
Eliminated again.
Who I would take if I was still alive: San Diego over Oakland: Last week I got cute, picking the red-hot Steelers to beat the ice-cold Jets, and it totally backfired. So, this week, I’m going back to basics and my thus far unflawed always-bet-against-Oakland strategy. The Chargers have lost three straight, but they’re poised to right the ship at home against the lowly Raiders.
Andy: Record before eliminated: 2-2 (0-1 in consolation round)
Teams used: Seattle, Detroit, Denver
Eliminated again.
Who I would take if I was still alive: San Diego over Oakland: I don’t feel good about this. I think the Raiders are getting dangerous and will win soon. For the sake of this pick, a couple of confidence pools and my investment in Keenan Allen in multiple fantasy leagues, among other reasons, I hope I’m wrong. This is a competitive week. The Chargers are at home. The Raiders are improving but still bad. Hopefully that is enough.
