After dominating the survivor pool in 2014, Fantasy Editor Anthony Maggio is struggling this year, missing three of his last four picks.
The rest of us nailed it last week, including Rich – who has yet to miss in 2015.
I wasn’t sure about his Kansas City selection, but his reasoning – basically that firing a Lombardi and replacing him as offensive coordinator with Jim Bob Cooter would prove to be a fruitless way to save the season – came true big time, as the Chiefs slaughtered Detroit in London.
Here’s the list of who we’ve picked previously:
Previously used | |
Rich | NY Jets, New England, Seattle, Green Bay, NY Giants, Cincinnati (winner), Arizona, Kansas City |
Tony | Green Bay, Pittsburgh, Arizona, Indianapolis, New England, Seattle (eliminated), Atlanta, Minnesota |
Maggio | New England, New Orleans (eliminated), Seattle, Indianapolis, Kansas City (miss), NY Jets, San Diego (miss), Atlanta (miss) |
Vomhof | Green Bay, New Orleans (eliminated), Seattle, Indianapolis, Kansas City (miss), Minnesota, Arizona, St. Louis |
Andy | Green Bay, Arizona, Seattle, Indianapolis, Kansas City (eliminated), New England, Atlanta, St. Louis |
Here’s who we’re taking in week 9.
This week’s pick | |
Rich | NY Jets |
Tony | Cincinnati |
Maggio | Cincinnati |
Vomhof | Cincinnati |
Andy | New Orleans |
And here’s why:
Rich – Contributing writer and publisher and editor for SouthernMinn SCENE magazine
After being surgically taken apart by Derek Carr, if the Jets’ defense has even a shred of pride they won’t let the Jaguars past their own 50 yard line. Whoever the Jets play at QB won’t matter. They could kick one field goal and win.
Tony – Co-founder, web guru
I haven’t used Cincinnati? Then I’ll take Cincinnati. Mostly because the play Cleveland. A little bit because they’ve been pretty solid all year, although they just squeaked one out last week. And Cleveland may not be one of the top three train wrecks in the NFL any more—but not for lack of trying.
Maggio – Fantasy editor
I wouldn’t blame anyone for just picking the opposite of what I choose, as I’ve been ridiculously bad at this. Getting three consecutive confidence picks wrong is extremely difficult, but I’ve managed to pull it off. That said, I do like the Bengals at home on a short week against a banged up Cleveland squad. So there you go–go ahead and put all your money on the Browns.
Vomhof – Senior contributing writer
Thursday night games can get a bit wonky sometimes, but when an undefeated team goes up against the Cleveland Browns, you just place your bet and collect your cash. The Bengals have one of the league’s stingiest defenses and most prolific offenses, whereas the Browns are still the Browns, dwindling near the bottom of the league on both sides of the ball.
Andy – Co-founder, editorial director
I don’t think the Saints are going anywhere this season, but Drew Brees seems to have found his rhythm. Tennessee just fired its coach. I find it hard to see the Titans staying close in this one.
