It’s seven in a row for Rich. He’s on fire.
Wasn’t sure I bought in on his Kansas City pick last week, but sure enough, the Chiefs held on to beat the Landry Jones-led Steelers.
Four out of five hits at this point in the season isn’t too bad. Here’s how it has looked so far this season:
Previously used | |
Rich | NY Jets, New England, Seattle, Green Bay, NY Giants, Cincinnati (winner), Arizona |
Tony | Green Bay, Pittsburgh, Arizona, Indianapolis, New England, Seattle (eliminated), Atlanta |
Maggio | New England, New Orleans (eliminated), Seattle, Indianapolis, Kansas City (miss), NY Jets, San Diego (miss) |
Vomhof | Green Bay, New Orleans (eliminated), Seattle, Indianapolis, Kansas City (miss), Minnesota, Arizona |
Andy | Green Bay, Arizona, Seattle, Indianapolis, Kansas City (eliminated), New England, Atlanta |
And here’s who we’ve got in week eight, with explanations below:
This week’s pick | |
Rich | Kansas City |

Maggio | Atlanta |
Vomhof | St. Louis |
Andy | St. Louis |
Rich – Contributing writer and publisher and editor for SouthernMinn SCENE magazine
Today the Detroit Lions fired a Lombardi so they could let a guy named – no kidding – Jim Bob Cooter run their offense. This is not about having confidence in Kansas City’s team. It’s about having complete confidence in the Lions’ ineptitude.

I don’t really like this pick that much, but with Jamaal Charles out and Kansas City vs Detroit happening overseas, I’m not willing to take the chance on KC, even with Detroit’s failure to make the right choice, ala Miami and their head coaching mistake. I also like Cincinnati (which I am shocked that virtually no one has used), but am worried that Ben Roethlisberger may return and provide the spark that the Steelers need to pull off an upset.
Maggio – Fantasy editor
I should’ve used Atlanta earlier in the season (as evidenced by my missing two picks already), so won’t pass up the chance this time around. Tampa Bay managed to give up a huge lead in Week 7 against Washington. I can’t imagine them having to worry about protecting a lead in this one.
Vomhof – Senior contributing writer
The 49ers offense flat-out stinks, limping to single digits in three of their first seven games this season–and life ain’t gonna get any easier for Colin Kaepernick and company against the Rams’ fearsome front. And the Niners haven’t looked much better on D, so they’ll have their hands full with budding superstar Todd Gurley. Rams roll.
Andy – Co-founder, editorial director
I don’t love St. Louis here, but I like them a lot. This team has become formidable since Todd Gurley came on board. They’re prone to clunkers on occasion, but that should be avoidable against the worst San Francisco team in years.
