Everything looked good in week five until Jamaal Charles got hurt – and then the Kansas City Chiefs curled up in the fetal position and allowed arguably the league’s worst team, the Chicago Bears, to bite them in the backside.
That knocks Andy out of the survivor pool. John and Anthony had the Chiefs, as well, but they were already eliminated and participating only for their worldly opinions.
Here’s where we are at:

Tony is taking some time off in a secret, exotic location. He’s promised to update this space in between cocktails before Thursday’s kickoff. Sorry, first real vacation in six years–meaning I only check email a couple times a day. I like Cincinnati this week, but worry that traveling to Buffalo may finally prove to be the trap game they’ve been avoiding. And now the genius **ahem** of taking Arizona in week 3 rather than the Seahawks pays off–if they were traveling east to Charlotte, it might be a different story–but in the friendly confines of Centurylink Field, this one should be an easy win. It probably won’t be, given the Seahawks lackluster play this year, but it should be.

The Bengals are a team starting to play with a swagger, while the Bills have become a barely one-dimensional team. Tyrod Taylor is a fine rookie quarterback, but asking him to carry an entire offense against one of the better defenses in the league is too much to ask.
Maggio – Fantasy editor (Eliminated)
Jamaal Charles’ injury likely cost me last week’s Survivor Pick, but as a Bears fan I’ll take it. Still, why are you listening to me on this? I’ve gotten two wrong in five weeks (though my overall picks are sterling). But, in the interest of filling column inches I’ll continue in this game and choose the New York Jets since they’re well-rested, at home, and face a less-than-daunting opponent–despite Washington pushing Atlanta to overtime last week.
Vomhof – Senior contributing writer (Eliminated)
There aren’t any matchups I feel great about this week, so I’m picking the one I’m most passionate it about. Skol Vikings! Yes, I’m a Minnesota homer, and I’ll even be at the game this week (with a Chiefs a fan), so they better get the W. And this game does set up well for the Vikings at home, especially with Jamaal Charles out for KC.

I broke my cardinal rule last week by saving a team I was certain would win in order to use them the next week. I took Kansas City – not entirely because of New England’s game against Indy this week, but in part. The Patriots were a great bet last week, but they’re an even better one this week. They are going to make an example out of the Colts this weekend – they might win by 50 – for starting the DeflateGate scandal. Unfortunately I’m not still alive to enjoy it, thanks to Jamaal Charles’ fragile ACL.
I guess that’s a problem with being on vacation–had I realized EJ Manual was playing, probably would have gone Cincy.
