His thoughts:
I took CJ Spiller at number two overall. This pick was between Doug Martin and Spiller, but I thought Spiller was the way to go. He will be the guy in Buffalo this year. He will get a good number of the carries, and they will get the ball in his hands in the passing game as well. The things I love about Spiller are his speed and big play ability. Whenever he touches the ball he can take it to the house. By the end of the year he will be a fantasy star. Another thing about Spiller is that he averaged six yards a carry last year. Very good player.
Here’s where my homerism came into play. At the end of the second round I saw Demaryius Thomas and Peyton Manning both available. I had two of the next six picks, so I decided to select Thomas first, and then hope Manning would be there for me in the early third. DT is a steal here, I think. He is big play man in the dangerous Denver Broncos offense. He will look to top 1.500 yards and 10 TD’s again this year. In the early third round I grabbed Peyton Manning, who will lead one dangerous offense in Denver this year. Manning will be throwing to Demaryius Thomas, Eric Decker and Wes Welker. He will get plenty of yards and touchdowns. I could have waited for a QB, but he was too good to pass up in my opinion.
I had to wait awhile until my next pick, and I watched many of the guys I had targeted come off the board. When my pick came up, I decided to take WR Mike Wallace. I know he has bust written all over him, but I went for his big play ability. He will be the man in Miami and I look for them to get the ball to him often. I waited until the beginning of the fifth round to grab my second running back. The pickings were a bit slim. I was hoping David Wilson or Lamar Miller would be here, but both were gone. So I selected Shane Vereen. Vereen will get plenty of touches in that New England offense. He will line up as a WR and RB. So he should be a solid RB2,
I took Rudolph as my TE and Austin as my Flex. I think both will be solid fantasy guys this year. I took my Broncos for my defense. They will get sacks and interceptions. I added the other Manning brother to be Peyton’s backup. I was surprised to see Ballard there. No he’s nothing special, but he will get touches in Indy – especially with Ahmad Bradshaw’s injury history. Chris Given has a big year coming, and I think he’s a solid bench option.
