Last week we bored regaled you with stories of our gambling exploits from Las Vegas, so we thought we’d better provide an update:
- First, at the tables, we did not do well overall. I did have a few nice runs, though, and I met some guys at the Wynn who developed the habit of shouting “ZoneBlitz.com!” to random strangers passing by–so we had that going for us. Hopefully they kept it up for the rest of their trip.
- College Bets – We already covered this. We are not college football gambling experts. From now on, it’s nothing but CentSports college bets for us. Until we go back to Vegas.
- Straight Picks – We did alright, hitting on 50% of our bets. The Jets, Saints and Cowboys all covered. The Cowboys/Browns did not go over 49, and Jacksonville killed us on the spread AND the over.
- Andy’s parlays–all dead–he hit 1/2, 2/3, and 1/4.
- Tony’s parlays–all dead–I hit 4/6 on the teaser (DAMN YOU, JACKSONVILLE!), 1/3 on the 3-way, and 3/4 on the final one (losing out thanks to the Colts while in transit home).
- My Vikings bet did not pay-off, continuing a long stretch of stupid bets on home town teams that I know I shouldn’t make.
As for our Week 1 picks, Andy went 11-5, while I went 7-9. In our Ranked Pick Pool, we went 8-8 for 78 points–a miraculous showing, where I managed to go 1-7 in my picks, while Andy went 7-1. Against the Spread, we finished 7-9–but probably would have been 9-7 or 10-6 if we’d actually discussed the picks before posting, rather than me just accepting his choices so I could get back to the blackjack tables.
Week 2 picks will be forthcoming. Thank god there are no Thursday games this week.
