Rototimes.com … yes, Rototimes.com has learned that Pacman Jones will be reinstated by Commissioner Roger Goodell on Thursday.

That means it should be about 15 days and 12 hours before he is next arrested … err, shows up for organized team activities.

In all sincerity the guy probably deserves a chance – one more chance – to show that he has cleaned up his act and learned the error of his ways, though I wouldn’t go any further than just the one more chance. Playing in the NFL is a privilege – not a right – and he’s pushed the limits far further than any player can believe they are entitled.

IF he can keep his butt out of jail, Pacman should be a huge contributor to a team that already had a great front seven. He’ll help shore up a defensive backfield hurt last year by injuries and the presence of Roy Williams, a linebacker wearing a safety’s jersey number.

Pacman also should be a monster in the return game, a factor that should move the Dallas Cowboys near the top – if not to the top – of the defensive fantasy rankings for the 2008 season.

The Cowboys took a reasonably large risk trading for Jones. But if he has learned his lesson and can keep himself clean he’ll again be an impact player.
