Last week felt almost like a free pass. Atlanta got most of us in the win column against a Rams team that finally succeeded in getting Jeff Fisher fired. And Tony’s Detroit pick was a little closer than expected, but watching the Lions hang on to beat Chicago can hardly be described as a surprise.
This week we’ve all got to dig a bit deeper. Here’s what we came up with for week 15.
Tony: Green Bay
Vomhof: Houston
Andy: Buffalo
Maggio: Seattle
Rich: Miami
And here is why:
Tony: (Previous picks: Seattle, Carolina, Dallas, Cincinnati, New England, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Minnesota, Kansas City, Baltimore, Miami, NY Giants, San Francisco, Detroit) Not sure how I made it this long without being forced into picking the Packers to win, but here we are — and in a game I couldn’t be happier to hopefully get wrong. My only other possible pick would be the Raiders (another team I can’t believe I haven’t used), but I’ll save them for next week when they take on the Colts in Oakland.
Vomhof: (Previous picks: Seattle, Carolina, Miami, Arizona, New England, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Minnesota, Dallas, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, NY Giants, Green Bay, Atlanta) I don’t have a ton of faith in the Texans, but they’re 5-1 at home and the Jaguars are floundering. Besides, Blake Bortles is one of the few quarterbacks who’s actually worse than Brock Osweiler.
Andy: (Previous picks: Seattle, Carolina, Miami, Carolina, New England, Pittsburgh, Denver, Kansas City, Dallas, Baltimore, Arizona, NY Giants, New Orleans, Atlanta) I used Atlanta last week, so I can’t pick them to beat San Francisco. I used Miami early in the season, so I can’t pick them to beat the Jets. I used Seattle in week one, so I can’t pick them to beat the Rams. So I am on to my fourth choice, the Bills. And I’m okay with that. After thinking for weeks that the Browns were going to steal a win somewhere along the line, I am now jumping on the 0-16 bandwagon. Tyrod Taylor, LeSean McCoy and Sammy Watkins have big days this weekend.
Maggio: (Previous picks: Arizona, Detroit, Carolina, Washington, Oakland, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Tennessee, Kansas City, Baltimore, New England, New Orleans, Green Bay, Atlanta) We’ll find out early if I run my streak to 12 straight, because I’m going with the Seahawks at home against one of the NFL’s worst. Atlanta last week felt like a bit of a gimme, and this feels the same despite Seattle playing so poorly in Green Bay in Week 13. Los Angeles simply can’t do much right, even the things that shouldn’t be difficult – like NOT giving Jeff Fisher contract extensions.
Rich: (Previous picks: Los Angeles, Seattle, Arizona, Dallas, New England, Pittsburgh, Kansas City, Minnesota, Green Bay, Baltimore, Tennessee, Buffalo, Chicago, Atlanta) The Dolphins might be doing this with mirrors, but they’re 8-5 and very much a part of the playoff picture. They received great news when an MRI revealed that Ryan Tannehill did not tear his ACL but only sprained his knee. Even if Tannehill cannot go, Matt Moore is a quality backup.
The Jets, meanwhile, are a dumpster fire. Eric Decker is long gone. Ryan Fitzpatrick seems to have remembered that he’s a classic journeyman/backup (2015 season notwithstanding).Brandon Marshall has checked out for the season, and now Matt Forte is down.
Bet the farm on Miami.
