Hmm.
Our picks seemed to be going better through the early games on Sunday. Then the afternoon kickoffs hit and … everything went to hell again.
Losses by Seattle, Oakland, Jacksonville, Green Bay and Chicago took solid numbers and turned them into near .500 level performances by the ZB pickers again this week.
John Vomhof Jr. is the only one who seems to have any clue what’s going to happen. He paced the picks for the second week in a row, with 10 correct.
Here are the standings:
Week 2 | Overall | |
Vomhof | 10-6 | 21-11 |
Maggio | 9-7 | 15-17 |
Tony | 8-8 | 17-15 |
Andy | 8-8 | 16-16 |
Well, there’s still almost nowhere to go but up, I guess. Here are our picks for week 3.

Game of the Week: Minnesota at Carolina – I considered three games for this slot. The Patriots/Texans game would be an old guard versus up-and-coming contender type game, if New England wasn’t down to its third QB. Denver/Cincinnati was also a consideration. But the Vikings/Panthers match-up won out. I think it will be interesting to see what each QB in this game can do in a match-up of two of the NFC’s best defenses. Both of these teams have proven themselves to be worthy of discussion for a deep postseason run, at least early on.
Game of the Weak: Los Angeles at Tampa Bay – So the Rams beat Seattle. Somehow they always do. And the Seahawks have looked like garbage so far this year. The Rams 28-0 loss to San Francisco is also etched in memory. And the Bucs … well, I do believe they’ll keep improving and perhaps be in the mix for a wild card run later in the season. But they’re coming off a 40-7 loss to Arizona. That doesn’t make this game must-watch television.
