Well, week one was interesting. Andrew Luck largely shut down. Tyrod Taylor looking like a future Hall of Famer. Of course – that’s what happens in the NFL.
Fantasy Editor Anthony Maggio paced the picks in week one, nailing several upsets, including both Monday nighters. The rest of us ranged between eight and 10 correct picks.
Name | Week 1 | Total |
Maggio | 12-4 | 12-4 |
Andy | 10-6 | 10-6 |
Tony | 9-7 | 9-7 |
Vomhof | 9-7 | 9-7 |
Rich | 8-8 | 8-8 |
Now we head into week two. And the games get no easier. Were week one results from teams like Philadelphia, Minnesota, San Francisco and Buffalo flukes? Or are they signs that the balance of power has or has not actually shifted for those teams? How will injuries play out? Here’s who we think wins.

Game of the Week: Seattle at Green Bay – The Seahawks looked lost last week on defense against the Rams and until Kam Chancellor comes back that may remain true. Meanwhile, Green Bay went on the road to Chicago and, while far from dominant, took home a comfortable win. These are probably, when full strength, two of the three or four best NFC teams. And, oh, yeah, it’s a rematch of the NFC Championship game that ended in dramatic fashion. I’ll want to watch this.
Game of the Weak: Tennessee at Cleveland – There are a couple duds this week. Thought about Bucs/Saints, too. But I think the Saints will stay relevant longer than either of these teams will. The Titans scored a convincing win over Tampa Bay in week one, but this is not a good team. Marcus Mariota gives some hope, though, and he does match up for the second week in a row with a former Heisman Trophy winner. That’s the highlight here. Cleveland fans already are looking forward to basketball season.
I’ll have our readers know that I made my picks prior to Tom Brady’s reinstatement, and otherwise would’ve picked New England to win. If I wind up losing by a game after the season, we’re putting an asterisk on that.
(Also, I likely won’t finish anywhere near the top of the leaderboard.)
You picked week 2 before Brady was reinstated? Or you you mean your week 1 picks?
I (like a few others, I suspect) picked the Vikings to beat Detroit before the debacle in San Francisco on Monday Night…not sure I would stick with that one right now.
True, but the Lions had an interesting collapse last weekend.
