Not that we’re going to spend a lot of time peacocking or anything like that, but Tony is still picking at a top 10 level according to Pickwatch.com and each of us hit at least 11 games last week. Actually all of us did, except Rich, who nailed 12. So it was a solid week.
We’re actually holding our own in this segment. We suck at survivor pools and our bets have been just abysmal … but we generally can make a decent guess at who is going to win a game straight up.
Here’s where we’re at with standings so far:
Week 15 | Season | |
Rich | 12-4 | 138-86 |
Tony | 11-5 | 145-79 |
Andy | 11-5 | 139-85 |
Maggio | 11-5 | 136-88 |
Vomhof | 11-5 | 129-95 |
This will be a difficult week, what with the holidays and all. Will the teams out of the playoff race show up to play or are their bags already packed? Will the teams who need to win be focused or will their minds be on the last-minute Christmas shopping they have to finish?
Here’s what we think is going to happen:

Game of the Week: Cincinnati at Denver – There finally are some really good games on the calendar this weekend. Arizona/Green Bay and New England/NY Jets warranted consideration. But ultimately, even though this game features backup QBs, it’s most likely a battle for the second bye in the AFC. Both of these teams have great defenses and offenses that are trying to find their way a bit right now. Should be, finally, a good game in prime time for Monday Night Football.
Game of the Weak: Chicago at Tampa Bay – There are not a lot of horrid games on the schedule this weekend. Even this one has some intrigue, as the Bucs are improving and the Bears have been more competitive in most games than expected. But it’s still a 6-8 team against a 5-9 team on the second-to-last week of the season when many of the other contests have playoff implications.
Merry Christmas, everyone.
