As a staff we’ve kind of rotated throughout the season as to whom actually seems to know what is going on in the league. It’s Andy’s turn right now, as he turned in his second straight week hitting 11 games.
If we could ever figure out who the hot hand was going to be ahead of time we might be able to hit Vegas and actually win some money. Unfortunately, the hot streaks seem to be coming from thin air.
Tony continues to have the highest mark for the season, but Andy is catching up. Everyone else in week 12 hit no more than nine games. That’s put Andy solidly in second, just three games behind the top spot.
Here are the standings:
Week 12 | Overall | |
Andy | 11-5 | 110-66 |

Game of the Week: Seattle at Minnesota – This was one of the toughest weeks I’ve had in finding a week’s best game – and not because there are too many to choose from. This is a garbage week. In this match-up, we have a Seattle team that needs to almost win out in order to stay in the playoff race against a Vikings team still struggling for respect, despite being in first place in the NFC North. The closest contender to this was Indianapolis at Pittsburgh, but I honestly don’t see that being a close game.
Game of the Weak: San Francisco at Chicago – Honestly, there are a number of ways this could have gone. This is one of the worst weeks of games in the history of the NFL… it has to be. Just about every game either consists of two crappy teams or of one crappy team against one powerhouse. In truth, it’s kind of telling – there are a lot of horse crap teams in the NFL this season and this schedule just happened to be one where none of the handful of really good teams got matched up with another decent opponent. What a bunch of sludge. Seriously. A lot of these teams should not be able to charge what they do for admission. Cleveland, for example. They’ve been one of the worst teams in professional sports history over the last two decades. They gave away a game on Monday night in as embarrassing a fashion as humanly possible. That city has great fans who deserve better. Does New Orleans even field a defense? Has Miami actually showed up for one of its games in the last month. What a joke. And the officiating — yeah, that’s been classic great this season. I’m still scratching my head about the call a couple weeks ago at the end of the Bills/Jets game – yeah, a WR is going to declare himself down with the clock running and a couple seconds left on the clock… especially as he bounces and twists and turns to get out of bounds in an effort to save time for a field goal attempt. Seriously?
Anyway, as for Bears/Niners, San Francisco is terrible. There’s another ownership group that should be forced to give back some of its billions. The Bears aren’t as bad as people thought they would be, but they’re still managing to lose more than win and likely will continue to do so. Maybe I’ll clean the gutters this Sunday instead of watching football. It’s a who cares game. Happy holidays.
