Okay, none of us saw the Baltimore upset of Pittsburgh coming even though in retrospect it was the obvious pick from about eight miles away. Otherwise it was pretty much a predictable weekend. The four of us were split on who would win what went down as one of the crappiest playoff games in recent memory, the Carolina win over Arizona. And we all got the Sunday games right – even though Detroit put a scare into Dallas.
Here are the standings after Wild Card Weekend:
Name | Wild Card Week | Overall |
John Vomhof Jr | 3-1 | 3-1 |
Anthony Maggio | 3-1 | 3-1 |
Tony | 2-2 | 2-2 |
Andy | 2-2 | 2-2 |
So now we’re on to the best week of the season. I love the divisional round – you get rid of most of the pretenders and what you’re generally left with is two really good games in each conference.
The fact that someone had to win and advance in the Carolina/Arizona game waters it down a bit, but I’ll still take this slate of games almost any week.
Here are our picks:
Andy | Tony | John | Maggio | |
Saturday, January 10 | ||||
Baltimore at New England | Baltimore | New England | Baltimore | New England |
Carolina at Seattle | Seattle | Seattle | Seattle | Seattle |
Sunday, January 11 | ||||
Dallas at Green Bay | Green Bay | Green Bay | Green Bay | Green Bay |
Indianapolis at Denver | Denver | Indianapolis | Denver | Denver |
I’d go for all of the home teams, but pick Baltimore for the upset.
