The bad news is that, at least from a picks standpoint, week 12 was a bloodbath. None of us fared particularly well and Rich had an especially tough week. The good news is that bye weeks are over and it’s Thanksgiving, so we’re about 41 hours from kickoff for the early game, about 44 hours from my favorite meal of the year and about 45 hours from my afternoon nap, which will take place during the afternoon game.
So, anyway, back to football. Fantasy guru Anthony Maggio started his rally this week. He gained a couple games in the standings. The rest of us, well, we can only wish. Here are the standings heading into lucky week 13.
Week 12 | Season totals | |
Andy | 6-7-1 | 116-59-1 |
Tony | 7-6-1 | 111-64-1 |
Maggio | 8-5-1 | 106-69-1 |
Rich | 3-10-1 | 100-75-1 |
Despite our less than stellar picks, the schedule for last week was filled with great games, at least on paper, from top to bottom. Some of the games played out as expected, others were fantastic and fascinating to watch – such as the Broncos/Patriots tilt, which happened to be our Game of the Week.
While there are a couple of pretty good games on the schedule for the week, there are a few duds. The Thanksgiving slate is somewhat underwhelming, though I’m okay with that – more time for eating and snoozing.
Here’s who we think wins:

Game of the Week: New Orleans at Seattle: With apologies to the Chiefs and Broncos, who play a rematch of the game two weeks ago, this game pits the two top NFC seeds. The Seahawks will be a bit short-handed, with two members of the secondary serving suspensions. The Saints must win to maintain their lead over Carolina in the NFC South. The vet Brees versus the second-year Wilson. Monday Night Football has gotten a raw deal in scheduling over the last few years, but Tirico and Gruden have had some good ones to call this season.
Game of the Weak: (Tie) – Atlanta at Buffalo and New York Giants at Washington: The Falcons and the Bills face off in a non-conference game between the team currently tied for the lead in the running for the top pick in the draft and the team that hasn’t been to the playoffs in this century. The Giants and Redskins are at least playing a division game. But their combined records are 7-15 and all the winner will do is make a case for staying out of the NFC East cellar. Both games are Who Cares Bowl quality.
Who wins the week 13 Game of the Week?
- Seattle Seahawks (55%, 6 Votes)
- New Orleans Saints (45%, 5 Votes)
