The last play of the Monday Night Football game not only raised the ire of New England Patriots fans who thought Rob Gronkowski was either illegally contacted, held or interfered with on the last play of the game (and they are right). It also kept my brother from gaining any ground on me in our NFL picks segment.
I may not be able to bet worth a damn right now. But I’ve got the straight up thing going on. The Panthers’ narrow escape pulled me into a tie with Tony for Week 11 – we both hit 12 of 15 games.
Fantasy Guru Anthony Maggio and Contributor Rich also had solid weeks, both nailing 10.
So as we head into the regular season’s home stretch, here are the standings:
Week 11 | Season totals | |
Andy | 12-3 | 110-52 |
Tony | 12-3 | 104-58 |
Maggio | 10-5 | 98-64 |
Rich | 10-5 | 97-65 |
As with last week, when a solid schedule was highlighted by Sunday night and Monday night games that actually mattered, this week’s slate of games is also entertaining. I count six divisional match-ups and a prime time Sunday nighter between Peyton’s Broncos and Brady’s Patriots. Should be some good watching.

Game of the Week: Denver at New England – One of the ESPN blogging heads posted a question on Twitter about which future Hall of Fame QB will have the better legacy. I’m getting a little tired of the Manning vs Brady debate. As both of them head toward the final years of their respective careers, they’re both going to go down as among the best ever. And it will be fun to, once again, see them match wits on the gridiron. This time Manning has the better team. But New England is coming off the Caper in Carolina. It will be interesting to see how the Patriots react. There are a lot of games on the schedule worth watching this weekend, but this one is easily the highlight to me.
Game of the Weak: Jacksonville at Houston – After last week’s game some Texans complained about being booed. Well, if you want the fans to stay positive, quit choking away games. The Texans, after a 2-0 start, have inexplicably lost eight in a row. I know they’ve had injuries, but they’ve had plenty of opponents on the ropes only to come back and lose. At least Jacksonville was expected to be terrible. And they’ve been playing some plucky ball lately. But these two teams combine for a 3-17 record. What more needs to be said.
