Players seem to be forgetting that Commissioner Roger Goodell is cracking down on misbehavior. ProFootballTalk.com does a nice job of keeping up on its Turd Watch.

And the site has had plenty to keep busy in recent weeks.

The biggest-name on the naughty list was LenDale White, who was cited near a Denver strip club for destruction of property, disobedience to a lawful order/interference and resistance, according to ESPN.com.

Typically we’ll let ProFootballTalk do the heavy lifting on the arrest log. And this isn’t intended to paint NFL players with a broad brush – the vast majority, some 98 percent according to one report I came across – keep themselves out of trouble before, during and after the season.

But it continues to boggle the mind just how many of these guys seem to think they are above the law. From assault to marijuana and battery to DWI it seems they are incapable of learning from the mistakes of their colleagues. And it seems during the off-season these guys don’t have enough going on to keep busy – because the blotter is picking up a bit.

In the last month:

The Houston Texans’ Jacoby Jones, a promising second-year player, got picked up for a DWI charge a couple days ago. He’s the team’s second wide receiver in just over a month arrested too – last month Jerome Mathis was arrested for allegedly assaulting his pregnant common law wife, according to media reports.

And the Vikings’ Bryant McKinnie pleaded not guilty after being arrested last month and charged with aggravated battery, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after allegedly spitting in the face of a bouncer who kicked him out of a club in Miami.

McKinnie is getting used to the system. He was also arrested in October 2005, though later acquitted, after a disturbance at a Minneapolis gas station – and he was also accused of misbehavior during the famed boat party.

Other reports show that in the last month Fabian Washington, most recently of the Oakland Raiders, had an incident that has him facing a domestic assault charge and Patriot Kevin Faulk was arrested in February with marijuana at a concert.

Forgive me if I’ve missed any. It’s hard to keep up. But it gives writers, both in the real world and bloggers, something to write about on a slow day.

Guys – keep up the good work.
