The Georgia Bulldogs will win the 2008 NCAA National Championship and Bulldogs running back Knowshon Moreno will become the second consecutive sophomore to win the Heisman Trophy if you believe Lindy’s College Football 2008 Preview.
Yes, I stopped at the local grocery store this afternoon for a couple quick items and left with my first preseason annual publication of the year.
Now, I confess – I buy Lindy’s College preview every year pretty much to fill my free time until the pro magazines come out. But the presence of the first college annual on the rack means Athlon’s and then Lindy’s NFL previews shouldn’t be far behind.
This year’s college edition features a look back at the Miami-Nebraska National Championship game of 25 years ago that began to shift the balance of power in college football. It also spins forward, projecting a rivalry between Los Angeles-based coaches Pete Carroll and Rick Neuheisel.
And of course, as always, it features two-deep depth charts and full-page previews for all Division 1 teams as well as brief previews of the Division II and Division III seasons as well.
I’ve always enjoyed Lindy Davis’ publications for their ability to be among the first magazines on the shelf while still managing to be current and not TOO early with their news. The magazines always make for good reading and they’re the first sign that fall practices and July training camps are finally just around the corner.
Lindy’s Pro is out too–just picked it up at the Las Vegas airport.
