Bragging rights are probably more important than the $2 each week that change hands in the Zoneblitz.com DFS Contest. Andy left week one comfortably ahead.

A lineup stacked with some of the week’s hottest performers, from Davante Adams (44.6) to Russell Wilson (33.78) and Dalvin Cook (21.8) to DJ Metcalf (19.5), he received production from almost every player.

Week one Season record Total points
Andy 159.98 1-0 159.98
Tony 108.06 0-1 108.06

These things have a way of evening up over time. Can Tony strike back in week two and gain a measure of revenge?

Tony: Well, my strategy didn’t work in the first week—so I’m mixing it up in week 2, spreading things out a bit more, although still taking a couple cheap options to bring in a couple big names at the top.

QB – Matthew Stafford @ Green Bay ($6,200) – While the Packers did win easily in Week 1, their defense didn’t play that well—especially in mop-up time. Stafford is on par with Kirk Cousins, and overall the Lions might have a better passing game than the Vikings.

RB – Ezekiel Elliott vs Atlanta ($8,900) – The Cowboys are likely to feed Zeke early and often against the Falcons, especially when they get the lead.

RB – Derrick Henry vs Jacksonville ($8,300) – The Titans always feed Henry…and the Jags  rank 32nd against the run apparently after week 1.

WR – Calvin Ridley @ Dallas ($7,300) – That lead that Ezekiel Elliott is going to be protecting? The Falcons are the masters of garbage time…and Ridley seems to get a lot of targets then.

WR – CeeDee Lamb vs Atlanta ($5,000) – I need to stop getting so many guys in a single game on here…I almost went Marquise Brown, but…that gave me two pass catchers from Baltimore. So I stuck with Lamb…who could eat the Falcons alive.

WR/TE – Parris Campbell vs Minnesota ($4,900) – Aside from Nyheim Hines, the big winner in Indianapolis bringing in Philip Rivers may be Campbell … since Rivers doesn’t seem capable of getting the ball too far down the field.

TE – Mark Andrews @ Houston ($6,700) – One more big name, who blew up in week one, and faces the 26th ranked defense against TE.

Flex – Latavius Murray @ Las Vegas ($4,700) – A real long shot, I suspect that Alvin Kamara may be asked to fill in more in the passing game in Michael Thomas’ absence, so Murray may see more ground work.

DST – LA Rams @ Philadelphia ($2,800) – The Rams were solid week 1, especially Aaron Donald—and the Eagles are beat up, especially on the offensive line.

Andy: My strategy last week was to largely punt TE, flex and defense so I could spend some larger dollars on studs like Cook and Adams. It paid off handsomely, both here and in a few other DFS tournaments I entered. Week one was easily my most profitable daily fantasy week ever. So, I’m sticking with roughly the same plan.

QB – Philip Rivers vs Minnesota ($6,200) – Lost in the Colts’ come-from-ahead loss to Jacksonville last week was the 363 yards and one TD that Rivers threw. And rightfully so, as his poor overall play weighed heavily in the loss. But the Vikings couldn’t come close to stopping the pass last week with two new starters and a new nickel back in the secondary and Danielle Hunter out. Rivers might not match Aaron Rodgers’ output, but he should still put up plenty of points.

RB – Ronald Jones v Carolina ($5,600) – Jones put up 66 yards on the ground and caught a couple passes last week for a decent output. Carolina should be easier to move the ball on than New Orleans was and, after watching Tom Brady last week, it would seem smart to help him out a bit by trying to establish something of a run game.

RB – Ezekiel Elliott v Atlanta ($8,900) – This is a game script play. Dallas should get a lead in this one and Zeke should eat.

WR – Davante Adams v Detroit ($8,400) – Aaron Rodgers is going to throw to his guy over and over and over and over and over and over again.

WR – Darius Slayton @ Chicago ($5,000) – The likelihood this guy has a game as big as he did last week is low, but at this price, he doesn’t need to put up 30 in order to be worth the investment. How is he still going for around $5,000?

WR – Tyler Boyd @ Cleveland ($6,200) – I’m not a huge Boyd fan, but I do see him as the de facto WR1 in Cincinnati right now and Cleveland’s defense didn’t exactly look stout against Baltimore in week one.

TE – Tyler Higbee @ Philadelphia ($4,400) – I never thought Higbee would live up to the preseason ranking he had this year coming off of an amazing end to his 2019 season. But I do think he’s solid and in certain match-ups, he should produce well. Philadelphia’s defense gave up 37 yards, four catches and a score to Logan Thomas last week. Higbee is better.

Flex – Dalvin Cook @ Indianapolis ($8,100) – Taking a shot at cheap production from guys like Slayton, Higbee and my defense this week allows me the luxury of grabbing Cook as my flex. He goes against a Colts squad that gave up 62 yards rushing and 28 more on a catch to undrafted rookie James Robinson. Chris Thompson contributed a couple catches. Cook can match those totals and then some.

DST – Washington Football Team @ Arizona ($2,200) – I don’t think Washington will completely shut down Kyler’s Cardinals, but I am impressed with their front seven. This team got eight sacks against the Eagles and looks like a strong, deep unit. At a low price, if they even get in the same ballpark as in last week’s effort, they’ll have proven their worth.
