Three of the four Zoneblitzers making picks may be figuring this season out.
Andy remains lost.
Maggio, Tony and John hit 10 or more, with Anthony leading the way at 11. Andy … not so much.
Perhaps that along with lower TV ratings are signs of the apocalypse.
Or maybe Andy’s just not as smart as he thought.
Here are the standings:

Bye weeks: Carolina, Dallas
Game of the Week: Seattle at Arizona – For a couple years it looked like the 49ers/Seahawks was the game to watch. With the 49ers sliding, Bruce Arians has made Arizona the biggest competitor to Seattle’s dominance under Pete Carroll. Both of these teams are among the top three teams in the NFC and it would be almost surprising if at least one of them wasn’t in the NFC Championship game. This could go a long way toward deciding which team has home-field in the event of a postseason match-up.
Game of the Weak: Tampa Bay at San Francisco – Most of this week’s games feature at least one team with a glimmer or better of playoff hope. Not this one. Tampa is slightly improved, but still not there. The 49ers have become one of the dregs of the league. Not sure what the biggest intrigue will be here.
It seems like one of us gets it almost each week – but it’s never consistently the same person.
John Vomhof Jr. paced the picks last week and he now leads for the season. Andy and Tony have stabilized a bit. Anthony, after posting the best picks for week four, dropped to the bottom with a .500 mark in week five.
Week six includes another slate of largely non-descript games. This league can post a lot of mediocre schedules, when it backlogs divisional match-ups for the last couple weeks of the season and puts a couple teams each week on bye.
We’ll see what we can make out of this week’s jumbly mess.
Ok seriously – what the hell is going on with the NFL this season?
It’s early and it’s harder to make picks, but we’re nearing the season’s quarter pole – and none of us have really figured the league out yet this year. Six times last week every single one of us picked a game incorrectly. That’ll happen once in a while, but six times?
I’ve never had a season where 50-50 was the rule. Three of us went 8-8 in week three. Anthony really struggled, pulling up the rear at 5-11.
There will be no .500 marks this week. … That’s because the bye weeks start. So, here’s hoping we end up on the right side of the line. Here are the standings so far.
Our picks seemed to be going better through the early games on Sunday. Then the afternoon kickoffs hit and … everything went to hell again.
Losses by Seattle, Oakland, Jacksonville, Green Bay and Chicago took solid numbers and turned them into near .500 level performances by the ZB pickers again this week.
John Vomhof Jr. is the only one who seems to have any clue what’s going to happen. He paced the picks for the second week in a row, with 10 correct.
Here are the standings:
