Slow and steady might bore Tony, but he’s continuing to close in on a 50 percent return on his bankroll for the season. Andy … continues to swirl the drain. Slowly this week, but … still on the way down.
Even in a week in which Andy wins his first Alternative Picks week and gets more games correct straight up than Tony, his bets remain a dumpster fire. No, a tire fire. No, a forest fire. No, probably, more accurately, a fire set in a dumpster full of tires out in the middle of a dry forest.
Andy failed to get a single bet correct, putting him in sniffing distance of the bottom of his budget. Tony’s not exactly lighting Vegas on fire, but he’s mostly putting up 2-2 weeks and he’s profiting a few hundred bucks at a time.
Week eight was middle of the road. We both went 2-2, which for one of us is a disappointment and the other is a relief. Tony, who has mostly been winning this year, has to be disappointed to barely add enough to his winnings to provide an evening’s worth of Blackjack at the local casino — especially given that his bravado in taking the Patriots and giving an extra point cost him a 3-1 week.
Easy come, easy go, I guess.
Andy, on the other hand, has been digging himself out of the muck most of the season. And, thus, winning $736 and cutting into his seasonal debt can only be classified as a win.
Tony’s dominating picks in the first half of the season and he’s dominating bets, as well.
He didn’t have a great week – just 2-2, resulting in a $139 loss for the week – but that puts him well in front of Andy, whose good week five appears to have been a mirage.
The one week stretch of strong bets dissipated fast. Andy and Tony both took it in the shorts in week six.

Andy: Well, that was fun while it lasted. Back to the drawing board. It seems every time I think I’ve figured this season out … well, that’s only happened once. And look where that got me.
Week five was solid. Andy and Tony both hit three of four – they missed their upset, but scored well enough in their spread games to have solid weeks. Tony’s bankroll is steadily growing, as he’s hit almost two of every three games he’s bet so far. Andy had dug himself a hole the previous couple weeks, but he’s within striking distance of even.
