Andy: This division might have been the worst in football last year and I don’t know that there is a lot of reason to believe it’s going
to be any better this year. Philadelphia came around last year and won it, but it seemed more to me like a hot potato game where nobody really wanted it, but in the end someone had to win it. Dallas did little to improve a terrible defense and got worse by losing DeMarcus Ware to the Broncos and Shaun Lee to injury. The Giants … Eli Manning was already running for his life and with the Chris Snee retirement news, he’s got to be a bit nervous heading into the season. And who knows what the hell you’re going to get with Washington.
Tony: Seriously, why are we starting with this division? Shouldn’t we try to sneak this one in on some Saturday night when no one is reading? You know how sometimes a division will finish with a lot of teams with mediocre records because they beat up on each other all year? This is the opposite…this division should be the poster child for not expanding the playoffs, and possibly coming up with a better solution, because it is very possible likely that no team in this division will deserve the spot. Last year’s division champ has a still unproven QB who lost his top WR and a no name defense. The Cowboys lost one of their best defensive players to the salary cap, and the other to a torn ACL for 2014, and are still hamstrung by their owner not firing their General Manager. The Giants are trying to solve their woes by adding a new offensive coordinator rather than infusing talent, and the Redskins did add the Eagles top WR, but still have to hope that their new coaching staff can figure out how to make RG3 not look like RGKnee. I take the Eagles, and beg that we move on to the next division. (more…)

Our wives have trouble believing that with as much Tony and I communicate at times during the day we often times get no deeper than the nuances of the football season. Here’s an excerpt that illustrates how we manage to keep minor issues of the day like politics and natural disasters from getting in the way of talking about important things like sports.
Andy: Thoughts on any games you’re particularly interested in this weekend?
Tony: If I could watch one game this weekend…
Tony: well, there’d be all kinds I’d be interested in, actually.
Tony: In fact, I might be coming over Sunday.
Andy: I’m only going to be here for part of the first game actually.
Tony: even better.

Since we’ve been kind of bored around here, we decided to throw together our own mock fantasy draft over the last week.
With the first overall pick in the 2008 Fantasy Draft…

Welcome to the first of what will probably be a regular piece on ZoneBlitz–we’re calling it (for now) ‘I Said, He Said’, where we go point-counter point on a particular topic. I would guess 95% of these will end up being copied and pasted (more or less) from some of the Instant Messenger conversations we have.
And yes, our wives do wonder how two guys who can spend all day in communication on Instant Messenger could possibly know less about what’s actually going on in the other’s life…well, this explains it:
Andy: Derek Anderson agreed to terms with Cleveland
Tony: really? I don’t get that one.
Tony: you like the Anderson signing?
Andy: I understand the Anderson signing.
Andy: Like it? Not sure. But I understand it.
Tony: I don’t
Tony: Take the picks. Let someone else have the one year wonder.
Andy: This team has been horses**t and Anderson made them competitive. I don’t think you can have a dreg team for five years go 10-6 and then say to the fans “The QB that got us here is going elsewhere and we don’t care.”
Andy: Quinn could be the second-coming or he could be a career second-teamer.
Tony: Yes, but regardless of which he is, you have a decent amount invested in him.
Andy: right
Andy: But there is nothing wrong with him sitting for two seasons.
Tony: Now he might be the next Aaron Rodgers. Without the old, grizzled vet blocking his way.
Tony: There is when he’s going to start whining and complaining about not playing and earning his incentives.
Andy: And there is nothing wrong with the Browns trading Quinn either.
Andy: I think the Browns put themselves in position to really hold the cards.
Tony: I bet they’d have a tough time trading him.
Andy: I don’t.
Andy: Too many sh***y QBs in the NFL.
Tony: I think they f***ed themselves over.
Tony: *sorry, should have said tough time trading him for value.
Andy: I’m surprised the deal happened this early in FA.
Andy: But I don’t think it was a bad move for the Browns.
And just like that, we moved on. So what do you think–did the Browns make the right move in re-signing Derek Anderson?
I guess what I am saying Andy P is that transparency is great, just doubt that it improves the results
So what do you mean where you say transparency?
Paul I don’t know what are you trying to say
Let’s say we had a lot more transparency during class of 2025 election - would it have changed outcome?
Paul what do you mean it doesn’t improves outcome
