Buy or Sell: Alshon Jeffery

Alshon Jefferybuying-selling
ADP: 26.5
WR: 10

After a slow rookie season, Alshon Jeffery exploded into fantasy relevance with an 89 catch, seven TD season in 2013 as Brandon Marshall‘s sidekick. He put up fewer yards (1,133 compared with 1,421) and catches (85 vs 89) in 2014, but boosted his TD output to 10 as he took over as the number one guy with Brandon Marshall hurt most of the season.

Marshall is gone and so is the Marc Trestman-led team that Jeffery grew up in.

Can Jeffery have the same kind of relevance as the true number one in the new offense installed by offensive coordinator Adam Gase and head coach John Fox?

Buy or Sell: Melvin Gordon

It’d been a couple years since a running back was taken in the first round of the NFL draft when the St. Louis Rams took Todd Gurley with the 10th pick overall this spring. The San Diego Chargers made it two five picks later by trading up to No. 15.

Gordon was, of course, coming off of a three-year run at Wisconsin, where he ended up with 4,915 yards and 49 TDs — all the more impressive because the first of those three seasons in Madison, Gordon was a backup.

But will Gordon’s skill set translate to the NFL?

Fostering hopes of replacing Foster

We didn’t even make it out of the first week of NFL training camps without our first major injury.

Houston Texans star Arian Foster suffered a significant groin injury on during the club’s first practice with pads. Word is that he’ll need surgery and will end up on the IR/designated to return, meaning he’ll be out until at least Week 10.

Foster—who had, on average, been going No. 7 overall in early drafts—suddenly becomes undraftable in all but the deepest leagues. He’ll miss over two-thirds of the fantasy regular season, and there’s no guarantee he’ll be healthy or effective after that.

So, who’s going to carry the load for the Texans this year?

None of the other running backs in camp are anything special. (more…)

Buy or Sell: Allen Robinson

Allen Robinsonbuying-selling
ADP: 89.7
WR: 31

Allen Robinson suffered a stress fracture in his foot during his rookie season last year, which cut short a campaign during which he caught 51 passes and made some highlight-reel catches. One beat reporter recently called him the team’s best receiver during OTAs and said he regularly made “wow” catches.

He’s emerged as the most popular fantasy pick among a collection of young wideouts on Jacksonville’s roster. Can he follow up an impressive rookie season with a fantasy-worthy second?

Last year several rookie WRs, led by Mike Evans and Odell Beckham Jr., burst onto the scene, putting up massive numbers and helping many patient owners to fantasy football championships.

This year’s rookie crop includes Amari Cooper, a wideout from Alabama whom many think has game equal to or better than anyone who came into the league in 2014. But will it show right away on a team that has many shortcomings and has not made the playoffs since roughly 1882?

Buy or Sell: Teddy Bridgewater

Teddy Bridgewaterbuying-selling
ADP: 123.4
QB: 18

Teddy Bridgewater took over the starting quarterback role in Week four last season for the Vikings, when stopgap solution Matt Cassel went out with an injury. Norv Turner eased him into the offense, gradually releasing the reigns as Bridgewater showed that there wasn’t much that was too big for him to handle.

He finished with a 64.4 percent completion percentage, 85.2 rating and 14:12 TD-to-INT ratio. But it’s the last five games, when he completed over 70 percent of his passes and started going downfield more that has Viking fans excited.

He’s currently being drafted in the 10th round of standard drafts—what do you think?
