2015 Power Rankings – 1/4 point of the season

We’re right at the quarter point of the season, so we figured it’d be an appropriate time to look back and see how we thought things would go when the season started a month ago.

Turns out a lot has changed. Cincinnati, Atlanta and Carolina are among 4-0 surprises. Baltimore, Detroit and several others have disappointed. It all goes to show that it’s never dull in the NFL.

Bet the Mortgage: Week 5, 2015 – Best Bets

This has started out as one of the more difficult seasons to figure out in recent memory. Even Vegas seems a bit moreweekly-bets confused than normal – one week the street cleans up on them and the next they get everything back.

The confusion is coming out in our bets too. Not that we’re professional gamblers or anything, but other than one 3-1 week by Tony, we’ve failed to get more than two correct in any given week so far. Tony split his four bets again last week, hitting on two bigger bets that provided enough for a small profit. I am struggling big time. I got a push on one over/under bet, but only hit one of my other three. At least my losses are coming in small enough doses where I should be able to ride this out a while.

Last week Last week $ Overall Overall $ Bankroll
Tony 2-2 +$609 8-8 +$1,307 $11,307
Andy 1-2-1 -$414 6-9-1 -$1,567 $8,433

So here we go again:

Bet the Mortgage: Week 4, 2015 – Best Bets

After we each alternated 1-3 and 2-2 weeks, Tony finally caught a good wave in week three, hitting three $1,000 bets and narrowly weekly-betsmissing his upset.

I went 2-2, but lost my bigger bet when the Colts comeback was almost come back against by Tennessee – needed the Titans to make the two-point conversion and lose by a TD in OT… but so it goes.

So, anyway, Tony’s a bit up for the year. I’m a bit down for the year. Here are the standings: (more…)

NFL Picks 2015: Week 4

For as rough as week two was, we managed to weather another unpredictable week three far better.weekly-picks

Andy and Rich rebounded from a combined sub-.500 effort with matching 14-2 marks. That jumped Andy into a tie for the season lead with Anthony Maggio and Rich to within just a few games.

Everyone scored at least 11 right.

Here are the standings so far:

  Week three Overall
Andy 14-2 32-16
Maggio 12-4 32-16
Tony 13-3 29-19
Rich 14-2 29-19
Vomhof 11-5 26-22

Week four starts the bye weeks and also includes an 8:30 a.m. kickoff in the states, as Miami and the Jets tangle in London.

Still some real surprises in who is winless (Baltimore? Detroit?) and who is undefeated (Atlanta?) to this point. Will normalcy return? Or is this going to be just another unpredictable NFL season? Here are our picks for week four:
