Bet the Mortgage: Week 7, 2015 – Best Bets

This is getting ugly. Both of us went 1-3 last week. At least Tony did it from an undisclosed tropical location. I was weekly-betsforced to watch my imaginary bankroll tumble further as Indianapolis hit a meaningless garbage time touchdown from my own living room. It was a tired, cold night.

Anyway, Tony’s progress was largely wiped out. My nosedive became even sharper. Here are the numbers to date:

Last week Last week $ Overall Overall $ Bankroll
Tony 1-3 – $1,068 11-13 + $677 $10,677
Andy 1-3 – $1,875 8-15-1 – $4,312 $5,688

As long as there are still pretend dollars in our pretend bank accounts, we’ll keep pretending to bet. Here goes: (more…)

Zoneblitz Survivor Pool 2015: Week 7

A lot of larger survivor pools didn’t last as long as ours did this season. Some early season upsets have wreaked havoc on such contests. And the run of unpredictability finally ended ours. Congratulations to Rich, who stood tall amid the chaos. His picks have barely been threatened so far this season. He wins bragging rights. So if there is one of us to listen to, it’s him.

The rest of us continue through the second-chance pool. We’ll continue bringing you our choices throughout the season – even though they don’t really matter much.

NFL Picks 2015: Week 7

Week six provided a wide variety of results among our pickers. A couple guys hit 10. One hit six. We usually don’t weekly-picksvary quite that widely.

That said, the results allowed the overall standings to tighten up some, as Fantasy Editor Maggio took the biggest hit.

Here are the standings:

  Week 6 Total
Rich 10-4 59-32
Vomhof 10-4 51-40
Tony 9-5 59-32
Andy 8-6 61-30
Maggio 6-8 59-32

Where are the must-see match-ups? Week 7 is yet another mediocre slate of games with little more than fantasy results driving the casual fan to the television. Here are our picks: (more…)

Bet the Mortgage: Week 6, 2015 – Best Bets

Well, neither of us is going to make a living gambling on football anytime soon, weekly-betsbut … one of us keeps going slowly in the right direction while the other one keeps swirling in the drain.

Tony keeps inching upward and, despite just a 10-10 record, he’s hit enough of the right bets to be approaching a 20 percent return on his bankroll. Andy is … taking on water after another 1-3 week.

Here’s where we stand.

Last week Last week $ Overall Overall $ Bankroll
Tony 2-2 +$438 10-10 +$1,745 $11,745
Andy 1-3 -$870 7-12-1 -$2,437 $7,563

No sense wallowing, however. After all, it’s a mythical bankroll. So, as always, here we go again.

Zoneblitz Survivor Pool 2015: Week 6

Everything looked good in week five until Jamaal Charles got hurt – and then the Kansas City Chiefs curled up in the fetal position and allowed arguably the league’s worst team, the Chicago Bears, to bite them in the backside.

That knocks Andy out of the survivor pool. John and Anthony had the Chiefs, as well, but they were already eliminated and participating only for their worldly opinions.

Here’s where we are at:
