“No, no sir, I don’t know where Tony is. Sure, sure, give me your number, I’ll have him get … you don’t want to give me your number? You’ll call again? Sorry, you’ll do what to him? Ok. Thanks. I’ll let him know you’re looking for him.”
Where were we again? Oh, yeah, this has gotten interesting.
After depleting his entire hypothetical bankroll, Tony doubled down – and he lost big time, going 0-4 and losing the entire hypothetical bankroll again. I think the imaginary guy on the pretend phone is irritated with him too.
Andy, meanwhile, climbed a few hundred dollars closer to breaking even.
Here’s a breakdown of where we’re at as we head into the last week of this dismal regular season of betting.
In the spirit of the holiday season, our writers dialed in and gave you four decent selections for a survivor pool last week. Andy was the only Christmas dunce.
It gets to be pretty slim picking in week 17 – though there may be a couple sneaky plays left on your/our boards. Here’s who we’ve used during the first 16 weeks:
Previously used
Rich
NY Jets, New England, Seattle, Green Bay, NY Giants, Cincinnati (winner), Arizona, Kansas City, NY Jets (duplicate), Carolina, Dallas, Oakland, Tampa Bay, Indianapolis (miss), New Orleans (miss), Houston

And here’s who we’re selecting in the final installment of the survivor pool for 2015:
Well, we’re finally here. It’s week 17. The NFC playoff participants have been decided. The AFC’s field is narrowed to just a couple question marks. The fantasy football season is complete in every sane league. And now we’ll finish up with one more run at the picks.
Week 16 didn’t go too badly, considering the weird run of games throughout the day. Four of us hit 10. Fantasy Editor Maggio hit 11. Tony has a six-game lead in the standings – the battle between us is almost for second place, where two participants are within a game of Andy. Here are the standings: (more…)
I’m just going to come out and say it – we’re mailing this one in. Let’s face it. If you’ve been paying attention to our picks, you’re long out of any survivor pools you entered. Sorry about that – next year we should pay attention to your picks rather than you paying attention to ours.
It was a contest for about seven days, but week 15 put some separation between Andy and Tony. Andy finally hit all three of his larger bets in week 15, adding more than $4,000 to what had been a fast-dwindling cash pile. Tony, meanwhile, went for broke and got there, actually falling into hypothetical debt for the first time. Can he work his way back?
Not that we’re going to spend a lot of time peacocking or anything like that, but Tony is still picking at a top 10 level according to Pickwatch.com and each of us hit at least 11 games last week. Actually all of us did, except Rich, who nailed 12. So it was a solid week.
We’re actually holding our own in this segment. We suck at survivor pools and our bets have been just abysmal … but we generally can make a decent guess at who is going to win a game straight up.
Here’s where we’re at with standings so far:
Week 15
Season
Rich
12-4
138-86
Tony
11-5
145-79
Andy
11-5
139-85
Maggio
11-5
136-88
Vomhof
11-5
129-95
This will be a difficult week, what with the holidays and all. Will the teams out of the playoff race show up to play or are their bags already packed? Will the teams who need to win be focused or will their minds be on the last-minute Christmas shopping they have to finish?
I guess what I am saying Andy P is that transparency is great, just doubt that it improves the results
So what do you mean where you say transparency?
Paul I don’t know what are you trying to say
Let’s say we had a lot more transparency during class of 2025 election - would it have changed outcome?
Paul what do you mean it doesn’t improves outcome
