Not that we’re talking down payment on a massive real estate payment or anything, but Andy and Tony have actually stayed above water this season placing mythical bets on football. Last week was a bit rough on Tony, but Andy actually got his season record above .500. This is almost scary…

Here are the standings:

Week 6 W/L Week 6 $ Season W/L Season $ Bankroll
Andy 3-1 +$2,144 12-11-1 +$2,435 $12,435
Tony 1-2-1 -$1,750 13-10-1 +$1,759 $11,759

And here are the bets:

Andy:

$2,000 – San Francisco (-10, +100) at Washington – I am guessing the 49ers will have a letdown somewhere along the way. Thing is I’m pretty certain Washington isn’t capable of creating it. The 49ers’ defense has been superior so far this season. I don’t see a way Washington gets enough points on the board to really make a difference here.

$1,000 – Los Angeles Rams (-3, -103) at Atlanta – Just how bad the Falcons have been this season is surprising to me. That said, the Cardinals game last week had to be a low point, missing by an extra point from going into overtime against Arizona. I think this becomes a “get right” week for the Rams after they got bludgeoned last week.

$1,000 – Arizona at New York Giants: Over 50.5 (-110) – The scenario here matches up pretty well with the scenario that played out between Arizona and Atlanta last week. You’ve got two solid offenses and two putrid defenses. The Giants may be a bit short-handed with a couple skill position injuries, but there should easily be enough here to hit the over.

$500 – New Orleans (+160 money line) at Chicago – One danger I’m seeing in my bets this week is that I like a lot of road teams. That said, the Saints are just playing better than the Bears and I see them winning in a low-scoring game here.

Tony:

Not terribly surprised that going bigger last week didn’t work out…but have to keep with it.

$2,500 – New England (-10, +100) over New York Jets – Yes, it’s on the road. Yes, it’s Monday night. Yes, Sam Darnold is back. The Pats failed to beat the spread the last time against the Jets, but it was 21 points that time. This spread is more reasonable.

$1,000 – Green Bay (-5, -110) over Oakland – I said in my weekly picks that this game would make my bets, and I better stick with it.  Not sure how the line has come down from 7 on this…are the bettors forgetting that the game is in Green Bay, and the Packers get to play with 13 men on the field?

$1,000 – San Francisco at Washington: Over 40 (-110) – Washington isn’t good, but they’ve managed to go over in several of their games…mainly because they’re defense is so bad. I don’t love San Francisco traveling east, but they should still put up at least 28…and even Washington can muster 13…right?

$750 – Cincinnati (+185 moeyline) over Jacksonville – I could take the Saints, but I saw Andy’s pick before I made mine…and maybe the Ravens, but the payout isn’t as good.  Cincinnati isn’t good, but the Jags are inconsistent as anyone in the league, and the Bengals are bound to even screw up tanking, so I’ll take a shot here.
