Every Thursday on 1500ESPN’s Fantasy Football Pants Party, Anthony Maggio and Bo Mitchell field their Ballsy teams—a full fantasy lineup comprised only of players available in at least half of ESPN.com leagues. Each week Zoneblitz.com will publish a preview, with Maggio’s top-rated at each position among the Ballsy-eligible players.
Eli Manning vs. Washington
He’s thrown only one touchdown in four of his last five games, but multiple scores in all but one home game this season. And he gets Washington, which has allowed the third most passing scores in the league. Washington is actually decent against the run, so this is a game that will require some yards out of Eli to go with his multiple scores.
Chris Johnson at Tennessee
The guy’s had 17 and 18 touches the last two weeks and faces a Titans team that’s allowing the second most fantasy points to running backs this season—a rank that’s been plummeting weekly as Tennessee keeps getting pummeled. This could be another Jets attack like two weeks ago when they threw the ball just 13 times unless the Titans figure out a way to slow New York down. I don’t see that happening, though.
Malcom Floyd vs. Denver
I give the guy a breather from my Ballsy lineup and he goes out and scores a touchdown. That’s on me, though, and I won’t let it happen again. He’s got a touchdown or 50 yards or both in all but two games this season, including a 4-58-0 line on seven targets in Denver in Week 8. I’ll continue to bank on the consistency.
Jordan Cameron vs. Cincinnati
Cameron returned from a nearly two-month absence due to a concussion to post a decent four catches for 41 yards against Indianapolis. Cincinnati’s a bit better against tight ends, but with his feet back under him now and a rookie quarterback making his first career start this week, I anticipate Cameron playing the role of safety valve and pushing double-digit targets.
Connor Barth at San Diego
The Chargers are among the friendlier teams in the league to fantasy kickers, and Denver should move the ball much easier against San Diego than they did against Buffalo last week when Barth only got one field goal chance to go with his three extra points. At least the field goal was a 50-yarder for some bonus points.
Packers DEF at Buffalo
Obviously the second half on Monday night was a nightmare, but that’s more of a blip on the radar than anything for a defense that’s been solid of late. Kyle Orton doesn’t have a Matt Ryan performance in him to decimate Green Bay in the no-huddle, so I’m expecting the Packers to get back to one of the league’s better defensive units this Sunday.
