NFL Picks: 2011 Week 11

After weeks of struggling to work my way back to a tie for the overall season record in picking games, we had two games picked differently last week—and I managed to get myself on the wrong side of both of them. My faith in the Jets fans ability to make enough noise to slow down the Patriots and the Browns to do … anything … was clearly unfounded, and now I’ve got my work cut out for me (and yet I’m picking the Browns again this weekend?  Even I don’t know my logic on that one).

In week 11, though, we’ve actually got four games going differently—I would venture a guess that I’ve got the longer shot of being right on more of them, but it’s been a strange last few weeks in the NFL, so hopefully my upsets pan out.

NFL Best Bets: 2011, Week 10

We told you last week that we clearly didn’t know what we’re doing.  Clearly we were even more right than we knew—Andy went 1-3, while I go 4-0.  If you followed our advice and bet against us, I still managed to screw you.

Packers Perfect Season in 2011?

We’re pretty much half way through the 17-week season, and there is only one undefeated team left in the NFL—the defending Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers.  Since late in the 2010 season—when there were many Packer fans still calling for Mike McCarthy and Ted Thompson’s heads—Aaron Rodgers & company have been on fire, reeling off 13 straight wins (two to get in the playoffs, four playoff wins, and seven to start this season).

So do the Packers have what it will take to become only the second team to accomplish the perfect 16-0 regular season?  Here’s a breakdown of the rest of their 2011 schedule, looking at how each team could beat the Packers, and why they won’t:

NFL Best Bets: 2011, Week 9

The good news: Our record was perfect last week in betting.  The bad news: That was a perfect 0-8.  Seriously, if we were really betting on these games, we’d be in hiding right now—not from kneecap breaking bookies, but probably from our wives.

By now it’s likely that if you’re coming to us for information on who to pick in Vegas that you probably have lost your bankroll for the season. You really shouldn’t be relying on us. You should instead maybe seek advice from this guy or this guy. Or maybe this guy.

But you’re here. And we’ve made weekly habit of making asses out of ourselves, so here we go again with our picks of the week.

NFL Picks: 2011 Week 7

Week 6 saw me picking up one more game against Andy (thanks to my picking of Tampa Bay, which I’m not sure wasn’t actually a typo on my part), finishing 10-3 vs. Andy’s 9-4.  For the season, Andy now leads 59-31 to my 57-33.  Two more weeks and I should catch him.

Of course, weeks like this may separate the amateurs from the pros, with lots of terrible matchups that could go either way—in our head to head picking, it may be one of the worst matchups of the week (Denver @ Miami) that might be the turning point, although we had two other matchups picked differently…
