Buy or Sell: Emmanuel Sanders

Emmanuel Sanders hadn’t had more than 44 catches in a season before Mike Wallace left Pittsburgh for Miami in 2013. Sanders buying-sellingspent his last season in the Steel City getting more playing time than ever and he rewarded the team with 67 catches, 740 yards and six scores.

Now Sanders has moved on to Denver where he’ll be catching passes from Peyton Manning. Will his numbers continue to skyrocket as he takes on the role previously held by Eric Decker? Or did his final year with Ben Roethlisberger in Pittsburgh expose Sanders’ ceiling?

Peyton Manning has thrown 92 touchdowns in two seasons since moving from Indianapolis to Denver. A record-setting 55 of those came last season when four receivers — Demaryius Thomas, Eric Decker, Wes Welker and TE Julius Thomas — each hit double-digits. (more…)

Buy or Sell: Julio Jones

Atlanta’s Julio Jones was on fire at the beginning of 2013, tallying 41 catches in five games. Unfortunately that’s where it ended, as abuying-selling foot injury cost him the rest of the season. It was a down year overall for the Falcons. But there’s still plenty of offensive firepower in Hot-lanta and Jones is just the top target. Will he pick up where he left off and justify the lofty draft position he’s garnered thus far? Or will he need time to shake off rust, leaving fantasy owners frustrated?

Forget the broken foot. Julio Jones is set to return to the field in 2014 and set to do so in monster form.

Jones, whose sidekick Roddy White was hobbled all season with ankle problems in 2013, lit the Georgia Dome on fire in the five games he was able to play before getting hurt. In those games he not only had 41 targets, three 100-plus yard receiving games and a pair of scores, he had 9, 14, 12, 13 and 11 targets – yes, that’s right, he had 59 targets in five games, or just under 12 per game. With Tony Gonzalez gone does anyone think that number is going to go down? (more…)

Buy or Sell: Kyle Rudolph

Kyle Rudolph missed half of the 2013 season with a broken foot. During the two seasons previous, he’s shown signs of stardom, but buying-sellingalso has disappeared for significant chunks of time. Was he the victim of poor QB play and unimaginative coaching? Or is he just a fair-to-middling player?

The Vikings seem to think he’s going to step it up a notch. The team just signed him to a lucrative five-year extension with hopes that the addition of Norv Turner as his offensive coordinator can take his game up a notch. So are you ready to jump on board the Rudolph train? Or are you a skeptic?

Cardinals fans clamored all season last year for Andre Ellington to replace the nondescript Rashard Mendenhall. Ellington had buying-sellingmany fantastic moments in 2013, but coach Bruce Arians stubbornly kept feeding his veteran the majority of the carries.

Ellington will get his chance this year. With Mendenhall mercifully retired, Ellington will take the top job and get a chance to show coaches he can put up similar numbers in a full-tim role. Do you think he’s up to the task?

Buy or Sell: Rashad Jennings

buying-sellingAfter serving several seasons as the caddy to Maurice Jones Drew, Rashad Jennings moved on to Oakland last season where he started the season … caddying for Darren McFadden. Luckily for Jennings, McFadden followed his typical form and got hurt, allowing Jennings to step into a starting role for the second half of the season.

Jennings took advantage, starting seven of the final eight and putting up solid numbers. The stretch earned him a contract from the New York Giants, where he enters training camp as the top dog. Can he handle the role and expand on his success from last season? Or will he be exposed as someone who is more appropriately suited to the role of complementary back?
