Did week one feel weird to anyone else? Guys like Mike Evans coming up with one catch while guys like John Ross and Sammy Watkins catch a million yards worth of passes and score three times?

I guess that’s just the NFL. It WAS good to have real games back. The NFL’s 100th season is going to b ea good one.

It started out especially well for Andy, who, despite picking the Colts by mistake, still captured the win with a 9-6-1 mark. On another note, no more fitting tie has ever taken place than the one between Arizona and Detroit – ties were made for those two organizations, who have spent years not being able to get out of their own respective way.

But we digress … here are the standings:

Week 1 Andy 9-6-1
Season Andy 9-6-1

And here are the picks for week 2:

1) Tony: Patriots over Dolphins – New England is 1-4 in their last five games in Miami. Somehow that doesn’t concern me this week.

2) Andy: Ravens over Cardinals – I suppose it’s possible that the fourth quarter of week one propels Kyler Murray to instant stardom and Arizona upsets Baltimore here. But I doubt it.

3) Andy: Chiefs over Raiders – Oakland looked shockingly competent on Monday night against Denver. But the Broncos aren’t as good as Kansas City this year. The Chiefs looked in week one like they are locked and loaded for another regular season romping through the competition before they let their fans down with a dismal postseason loss. On another note, I hear this is going to be the last game ever played on a dirt infield. I bet the running backs and linemen are really going to miss that feature.

4) Tony: Cowboys over Redskins – Case Keenum looked solid in week 1, but the defense ultimately let them down–and they face an even tougher test this week against the Cowboys.

5) Andy: Panthers over Bucs – I am a big fan of Bruce Arians and I tried to stick up for Jameis Winston. After last week he’s going to have to prove it to me. I’m not off the bandwagon, but I’m in my diving pose.

6) Tony: Eagles over Falcons – The Falcons did not look good in week 1 against the Vikings. Maybe the Vikings are that good…but it’s just as likely that the Falcons just aren’t that good.

7) Andy: Texans over Jaguars – Houston put up a good fight at the Mercedes Benz Dome, or whatever we’re calling it these days, Monday night. I think the Texans are going to win a lot of games this year, especially after the new tackle gets a couple games under his belt … as long as Deshaun Watson doesn’t get killed first. For the Jags, Gardner Minshew looked solid in relief of Nick Foles. I think he’s going to face a tougher test this week.

8) Tony: Bills over Giants – More of a bet that the Giants are inept than the Bills are really good.

9) Andy: Chargers over Lions – The first three quarters looked alright. The fourth quarter put the Lions directly back into “prove it” mode with me again. Meanwhile, Philip Rivers just never seems to get old.

10) Tony: Bears over Broncos – Bears. Beets. Battlestar Gallactica. Also Bears Beat Broncos.

11) Andy: Browns over Jets – So, which disappointing week one team do you believe in more? I think Cleveland got caught up in its press clippings in week one, but the Browns are a more talented team than the Jets.

12) Tony: Rams over Saints – The Saints offense looked great against the Texans on Monday night, but they needed every second to hang with them. Not sure they can pull it off again, especially away from the confines of a dome.

13) Andy: Titans over Colts – I took Indy by mistake last week. I blame lack of sleep. I’m not making that mistake again.

14) Tony: 49ers over Bengals – That this game ended up this far down shows just how little faith either of us has in either team.

15) Andy: Seahawks over Steelers – That was a bad Sunday nighter for Pittsburgh. Was it just because they were playing the Patriots? OR is this team paying the price for losing Bell and Brown? Seattle isn’t great, but they’ll be another real test right out of the gate.

16) Tony: Packers over Vikings – I hate picking the Vikings game each week…and will only pick it in the last spot. I don’t want to be right with this pick.

There are always surprises in week one. Both Andy and Tony fell victim to a couple of those, but both posted relatively solid marks for the week and, just like Detroit and Arizona, they tied.
