Week one will feature a doubleheader on Monday night that will not include the Dallas Cowboys. The Green Bay Packers will open a new era by hosting the Minnesota Vikings at 6 p.m. Central. That game will be followed by the Denver Broncos visiting the Oakland Moneypits, err, Raiders.

The NFL is expected to announce its national television schedule for week one and Thanksgiving on Monday with the rest of the schedule tentatively expected to be announced Thursday.
The entire schedule announcement has been delayed in past years and has been removed from the NFL Network television schedule, according to the Dallas Morning News.
The Morning News says it’s highly likely that the Dallas Cowboys will get a prime-time game during the season’s first week because everybody loves the Cowboys.

The mother of Jessica Simpson says her daughter secretly married Tony Romo.
Jessica, who caused a stir in Dallas when Romo’s play suffered late last season after she watched a game from a box at Texas Stadium, was previously married to Nick Lachey.
Simpson and her mother were leaving a Chili’s restaurant in Los Angeles when she made the claim to TMZ.com, a gossip Web site. Simpson giggled and said “Well, I guess if my mom said it, it must be true,”’ according to the Arizona Republic’s Web site.
Sure, this is nothing more than gossip and who knows if it’s true. And who cares, for the most part. But there’s not that much else going on. And Cowboys fans and fantasy football players might start to care if Romo’s play continues to slide during his relationship with Simpson.
In other non-football-related gossip, profootballtalk.com reports that Tiki Barber may no longer be a part of the NBC Today show and Commissioner Roger Goodell wants to ban long hair.

Despite the possibility of angering coaches, in all likelihood only a couple of them will have much impact.

***UPDATE*** ZoneBlitz.com’s take on 2008 NFL Draft Needs have started going live–check them out here.
I’m sure all of you readers (both of you) have been wondering why it’s been all Andy as of late, and no Tony. Well, truth be told, I’ve been busy working my real job, working behind the scenes here at ZoneBlitz (you have no idea how much time went into making all of the links on the page red), and actually taking a trip down to Florida to catch a little spring training action.
That’s right, the guys at ZoneBlitz are actually baseball fans too. Kind of.
Anyway, the week before I left, I finally swung into my local bookstore, and grabbed a few draft publications. Why? Even though I know they are outdated before they even go to print, and largely useless when it comes to team needs and mock drafts, I do it every year, because I’m a sucker.
But this year, they actually serve another purpose…
